Before production begins, we will review your requirements and contact you to confirm which specifications can be achieved.

Because every sword is made and finished by hand, slight variations in the final dimensions or weight may occur. These small differences are a natural part of traditional craftsmanship and do not affect the sword's quality or performance.

Inspired by early medieval sabres used across Eastern Europe and the Eurasian steppe, this short sabre represents a unique alternative to the traditional double-edged swords of the early Middle Ages.

Featuring a curved single-edged blade designed for powerful cutting attacks, this weapon reflects the influence of steppe warfare traditions on medieval European arms development. Rather than being an exact replica of a specific historical find, it is a modern interpretation created to preserve the character, handling, and practical qualities of early medieval sabres while meeting today's standards for durability, safety, and performance.

Historical Inspiration

Short sabres appeared in various forms throughout Eastern Europe during the early medieval period, influenced by the weapon traditions of nomadic peoples such as the Avars, Khazars, and other steppe cultures. Their curved blades were especially effective for mounted combat, allowing powerful cutting strikes while maintaining excellent control.

Unlike the double-edged swords common in Western Europe during the same period, sabres focused on cutting efficiency through their single-edged curved blades. Over time, these weapons influenced the development of later sabre traditions across Central and Eastern Europe.

This early medieval short sabre combines historical influences from these traditions while being adapted for modern reenactment use, providing a durable and practical weapon suitable for training and controlled combat.

Construction and Handling

The curved blade gives this sabre a distinctive handling characteristic compared to traditional straight swords. The design emphasizes fast cutting movements, fluid transitions, and effective edge alignment.

Its compact size makes it highly maneuverable and comfortable during extended training sessions, while maintaining the robust construction required for regular reenactment use.

Each sabre is handcrafted in our family forge in Poland, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods to create a reliable and functional historical weapon.

Materials and Heat Treatment

The blade is forged from high-quality 50HF spring steel, selected for its excellent combination of toughness, flexibility, and impact resistance.

Every blade is professionally heat-treated to 48 HRC. After years of testing different steels and hardness levels, we found this combination provides the best balance between durability and flexibility for historical combat.

A properly hardened blade is able to flex under load and return to its original shape without permanent deformation. At the same time, it remains resistant to cracking and breakage during normal reenactment use.
