Individual Sword Parameters – Your Requirements, Our Execution!

We want your sword to perfectly meet your needs. That’s why we give you the opportunity to specify your preferred parameters when placing an order. If you have specific requests regarding weight, blade length, balance point, or other details, please indicate them.

After receiving your guidelines, our team will thoroughly analyze the possibilities of fulfilling them and will contact you to confirm whether we can meet your expectations.

Remember that each of our swords is a craftsman's work. The process of making and final finishing is done manually, which gives each piece a unique character. Therefore, the final parameters of the finished sword may differ slightly from those ordered. This is a natural feature of handmade production and attests to the authenticity of your weapon. However, we assure you that we will make every effort to ensure that the sword closely matches your original specifications.

Medieval Bastard Sword – A Masterful Combination of Power and Agility!

Step into the golden age of chivalry and flourishing fencing art with our faithful replica of the bastard sword, also known as the longsword. This iconic weapon, a symbol of the late Middle Ages (from the 13th to the 15th century), has been created with history enthusiasts and reenactors in mind, who are in search of an authentic and versatile weapon for training, demonstrations, and safe duels.

Power and Precision in One:

Our bastard sword stands out with its solid craftsmanship and attention to detail, adhering to historical patterns. Its longer blade and distinctive extended grip, allowing for a one-handed or two-handed hold, provide unmatched versatility in combat. This design allows for delivering both powerful, wide cuts and precise, thrusting jabs, making these swords incredibly effective against armored opponents. The subtly shaped crossguard and well-balanced pommel ensure excellent control over the weapon. The blade types of such swords (e.g., XII, XIIIa, XVa, XVI according to Oakeshott) feature varied profiles, from wide blades with grooves to more tapered ones with a strong point, ideal for piercing armor.

Origin and Discoveries:

Bastard swords developed in response to advances in armor construction and the need for more versatile weaponry on medieval battlefields and in duels. They were widely used across Europe, from England, through France, the Holy Roman Empire, to Italy and Eastern Europe, including Poland. Discoveries of these swords are numerous and include both simple, utilitarian examples and true works of craftsmanship, often engraved with inscriptions or coats of arms. They were an essential part of the equipment of knights, nobles, and trained foot soldiers, serving as a testament to the flourishing of European blacksmithing and fencing art.

Ideal for Reenactment and Duels:

This sword has been designed with durability and safety in mind, making it an excellent choice for reenactors wishing to recreate late medieval combat. Its construction makes it suitable for controlled duels and intense training, providing both authentic experiences and the necessary durability. With it, your historical recreations will gain even greater realism and allow you to feel the dynamics of knightly combat.

Custom Sword Parameters – Tailor to Your Needs!

Given the large number of bastard swords we have produced, it is challenging to summarize their universal parameters. Each piece is crafted with attention to detail, and individual preferences are of key importance.

If you would like to order a sword with specific parameters (e.g., weight, blade length, balance point), please contact us – we will let you know if we can make it according to your specifications. If you are interested in a sword with a specific appearance (e.g., inspired by a specific find), we will inform you of what parameters it can have to maintain historical fidelity and functionality.

Exceptional Quality of Materials – Guarantee of Durability and Safety!

At the heart of each of our swords lies carefully selected steel and a precise hardening process, which together ensure unparalleled quality and user safety. Our swords are made from high-quality 50HF steel, which is valued in the industry for its excellent mechanical properties.

Each blade is precisely hardened to an optimal hardness of 48 HRC (on the Rockwell scale). This is the result of years of experience and testing. Over the years, we have experimented with various combinations of steel and hardness, seeking the ideal balance. We believe that the combination of 50HF steel with a hardness of 48 HRC is the golden mean, making our swords exceptionally functional:

  • Flexibility and Resistance to Deformations: Thanks to this combination, the sword is appropriately flexible, allowing it to absorb impacts and vibrations during combat. Most importantly, despite this flexibility, it does not suffer from permanent deformations, returning to its original shape.

  • Optimal Hardness without Brittleness: The blade is hard enough to maintain an edge and withstand intensive use, yet it is not brittle. This minimizes the risk of the sword breaking during dynamic duels, which is crucial for your safety.
