Individual Sword Parameters – Your Requirements, Our Execution!

We want your sword to perfectly meet your needs. That’s why we give you the opportunity to specify your preferred parameters when placing your order. If you have specific requests regarding weight, blade length, balance point, or other details, please indicate them.

After receiving your guidelines, our team will carefully analyze the possibilities of fulfilling them and will contact you to confirm whether we can meet your expectations.

Remember that each of our swords is a work of a craftsman. The process of making and final finishing is done manually, which gives each piece a unique character. Therefore, the final parameters of the finished sword may differ slightly from those ordered. This is a natural feature of handmade production and attests to the authenticity of your weapon. However, we assure you that we will make every effort to ensure that the sword closely matches your original specifications.

Early Medieval Sword Type K (Petersen) – Elegance and Strength of the Viking Era!

Step into the fascinating world of the early Middle Ages with our faithful reproduction of the sword characterized by a hilt classified as Petersen Type K. This exceptional weapon, primarily dated to the 10th century, has been created for history enthusiasts and reenactors seeking an authentic and functional weapon for training, demonstrations, and safe duels.

Authenticity and Refinement in One:

Our sword stands out with its solid craftsmanship and attention to detail, in accordance with historical patterns. It features a long, straight blade (most often classified as type X in Oakeshott's typology), which provides an excellent balance between cutting power and thrusting capability. A key distinguishing element of this model is its hilt:

  • Straight or Curved Cross-guard: Provides solid hand protection and a secure grip.

  • Characteristic Type K Pommel: This is a pommel with a unique, often two-part shape, with a clearly defined, flat element at the base, resembling a collar or visor. This specific shape not only gives the sword elegance but also ensures excellent balance, facilitating maneuverability in combat. Type K pommels were often richly decorated, indicating the status of their owner.

This design was commonly used in Northern Europe and beyond, and its effectiveness in hand-to-hand combat is undeniable.

Origins and Discoveries:

Swords with Type K pommels (Petersen) are among the most recognizable and often beautifully decorated types of swords from the 10th century. Their geographical range encompasses all of Europe, from Scandinavia, through the British Isles, Germany, to the vast territories of Eastern Europe, including Poland and Kievan Rus. Many of them have been discovered in archaeological contexts, including richly equipped graves, highlighting their significance as weapons of elite warriors. They are a valuable testament to both the art of blacksmithing and jewelry-making of the early Middle Ages, often featuring inlays of precious metals.

Ideal for Reenactment and Duels:

This sword has been designed with durability and safety in mind, making it an excellent choice for reenactors wishing to recreate battles from the early Middle Ages. Its construction makes it suitable for controlled duels, ensuring both authentic experiences and the required durability. With it, your historical recreations will gain even greater realism, allowing you to feel the spirit of the era in your hands.

Exceptional Quality of Materials – A Guarantee of Durability and Safety!

At the heart of each of our swords lies carefully selected steel and a precise hardening process, which together ensure unmatched quality and safety of use. Our swords are made of high-quality 50HF steel, which is valued in the industry for its excellent mechanical properties.

Each blade is precisely hardened to an optimal hardness of 48 HRC (on the Rockwell scale). This is the result of years of experience and testing. Over the years, we have experimented with various combinations of steel and hardness, searching for the ideal balance. We believe that the combination of 50HF steel with a hardness of 48 HRC is the golden mean, making our swords exceptionally functional:

  • Flexibility and Resistance to Deformation: Thanks to this combination, the sword is appropriately flexible, allowing it to absorb impacts and vibrations during combat. Most importantly, despite this flexibility, it does not suffer permanent deformations, returning to its original shape.

  • Optimal Hardness without Brittleness: The blade is hard enough to maintain its edge and withstand intense use, yet it is not brittle. This minimizes the risk of the sword breaking during dynamic duels, which is crucial for your safety.
